This exhibition brings together two distinct approaches to interpreting the natural world—Heidi’s detailed bird studies and Bronwyn’s abstract watercolours—through a shared exploration of process, material, and scale.

In Bronwyn’s work, water and pigment interact in ways that are both controlled and unpredictable—separating, blending, resisting, and flowing depending on the properties of each colour. Each piece is created over several days, allowing pigments to settle and dry before new layers are introduced. These behaviours echo natural systems: shifting, reactive, and never entirely fixed.

Heidi’s birds offer a counterpoint—grounded, observational, and precise. They anchor the exhibition in form and familiarity, while reflecting the subtle variation and individuality found in nature. Her work balances detail with stylized form, using simplified environments and layered colour to suggest place.

Together, the works explore the tension and harmony between structure and fluidity, control and chance.
