Felicia Fraser - Balloons I
2025, Oil on cradled wood panel, 18 x 24 in
Felicia Fraser is a Vancouver-based visual artist with a background in illustration and graphic design. Her paintings focus on familiar items such as candies, toys, games, and collections, and the memories they carry. For Still Playing, she reflects on the importance of keeping the inner child alive and staying connected to early ways of noticing, collecting, imagining, and finding joy.
After years of working full-time while raising two children, she returned to painting as a way to reconnect with herself. Her process includes sourcing and collecting reference material, carefully arranging and photographing each subject before translating it into large-scale realist paintings. By removing these familiar things from their usual context, she invites viewers to slow down and look closer. In a fast-moving world, her work offers a pause and an invitation to remain curious, open, and connected to the qualities we often associate with childhood.
Since returning to painting, Felicia has presented multiple solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group shows. She has completed over 60 commissions, including murals and custom corporate works, and her art has been featured in print and local media.
